Health Care Spending

A recent report published by the Organization for Economic Co-Operation and Development (OECD) shows the United States spends more on heath care than any other country.  In 2007, U.S. spending was $7,290 per capita, nearly two-and-a-half times the OECD average of $2,984 for other countries, says Sarah McIntosh.

Our current political debate and lack of clarity from our leaders has muddied the waters in terms of what we really have at our disposal.  The fact of the matter is that, we still have quality health care insurance and quality health care delivery here in the United States.  The general public must become more “informed” consumers.  Competition will certainly contribute to improvements in health care delivery, research, hospitals and insurance.
